Rally against Sheila Dixit Govt.
By Our Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI, JAN. 2.
The Lok Janshakti Party national vice-president and spokesman,
Mr. Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, today announced that a massive rally
would be organised here on January 7 to highlight ``the anti-
people decisions and the failure of the Sheila Dixit Government
on all fronts''.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Bidhuri said the rally
would be addressed by the Union Communications Minister, Mr. Ram
Vilas Paswan and other party MPs. Coming down heavily on the
``Nayaya Yudh'' launched by the Delhi Pradesh Congress
Committee(I), Mr. Bidhuri said it was the biggest drama of the
century and termed it as a fraud movement. The real intention of
the so-called Nayaya Yudh was to save the Delhi Government and
the Chief Minister and not to fight for securing justice for the
poor.
He said that it was well-known that the Delhi Government failed
to relocate industries in time and it was closing the industrial
units but still agitating against the Centre. ``Instead of
holding a hunger strike in front of the Prime Minister's house,
it would have been better if the Delhi Congress(I) protested in
front of the Chief Minister's house. This would do a lot of good
for the poor and help resolving the situation'', he added.
He said the Chief Minister was facing allegations of wrong doing
by her own party colleagues. If she is sincere in tackling
corruption, Ms. Dixit should refer all these matters to CBI for
thorough investigation, he said. For this it was essential that
the Chief Minister is removed to enable an impartial inquiry.
Mr. Bidhuri said the rally would pass several resolutions for
the benefit of the lakhs of industrial workers and factory
owners. A demand would be made to amend the Master Plan of Delhi
and declare those non-conforming and residential areas as regular
industrial estates where two-third of the land was covered by
industrial units. Similarly, a demand would be made for seeking
extension of time for their relocation, regularisation of
unauthorised colonies which have come up prior to 1998 without
any penal charges, JJ clusters should not be removed till
alternative developed plots and adequate civic amenities were
made available.
At the same time, he said it would also demand that thousands of
families in JJ clusters, rural areas and unauthorised colonies
should be given items from the PDS outlets at subsidised rates.
In addition, consolidation work for the extension of Lal Dora in
rural villages must immediately be undertaken and extended
population of villages should be provided all civic amenities. He
also demanded that compensation rates should also be doubled to
Rs. 30 lakhs per acre, ownership right of the plots and
agricultural land allotted to landless people in rural villages
should be given to allottees.
Mr. Bidhuri demanded revocation of the Uniform Sales Tax citing
difficulties faced by traders. Thousands of workers would take
part in the rally which would declare war on the Delhi Government
and work for the removal of Ms. Sheila Dixit.
