Li Peng coming next week

NEW DELHI, JAN. 2. Mr. Li Peng, Chairman of China's Standing
Committee of the National People's Congress, is visiting India
from January 9 to 17 to give a new push to Sino-Indian ties.
He will meet the Prime Minister, Mr. A.B. Vajpayee, on January 15
and the President, Mr. K.R. Narayanan on January 12, and will
visit Mumbai, New Delhi, Agra and Bangalore.
Mr. Li's visit is being hosted by the Vice-President, Mr. Krishan
Kant, and the Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr. G.M.C. Balayogi. He will
arrive in Mumbai on January 9 and leave for New Delhi two days
later for an extended interaction with parliamentarians. On
January 13, he will deliver a talk at the India International
Center, and will leave for Agra the following day. He will be in
Bangalore on January 16 and 17.
