Paes-Bhupathi duo for Gold Flake Open
CHENNAI, DEC. 20. Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, India's ace
doubles pair, have confirmed their participation in the Gold
Flake Open 2001, according to a press release here on Wednesday.
The two reached the final of the Gold Flake ATP Tour World
Doubles Championships in Bangalore recently and have an
impressive record at the Chennai event, achieving a hat-trick of
triumphs - 1997, '98, '99. The pair missed out in the last
edition because of Mahesh's an injury.
``We love playing in India and we really like the atmosphere that
is created in Chennai when we are there. There is nothing like
playing at home, in front of your own people, it gives us so much
more motivation,'' said Leander in the release.
Mahesh added, ``My shoulder feels fine, and Leander and I are
hoping to have a great year. It would be tremendous to start with
a win in Chennai and then be able to qualify and end the year in
Bangalore at the Gold Flake ATP World Doubles.''
