Claim on Tipu Sultan's property
By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE, DEC. 20. Mr. Asif Ali Shah, who claims to be the
seventh generation descendant of Tipu Sultan, has demanded that
the State Government hand over the management of the property
belonging to Tipu Sultan to his family at Srirangapatna.
Mr. Shah told presspersons here on Tuesday that last year, the
previous Government had promised to rehabilitate him and allow
him to manage his ``ancestral'' property, but since then no steps
had been taken by the Government in this regard.
Mr. Shah said that Mr. A.M.Hindasgeri, Minister for Labour and
Wakfs, had offered him a package regarding the property, which he
neither accepted nor refused. He would continue his protest till
a Government order to rehabilitate his family was issued, he
added.
