Bidhuri joins Paswan's new party

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, DEC. 12.

Mr. Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, who last week resigned from the Delhi unit of the Congress(I), today announced his decision to join the new Lok Janshakti party in the presence of its president and Union Communication Minister, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, here.

Mr. Bidhuri, who until recently was vice-president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress(I) Committee, had resigned after accusing the Delhi Chief Minister, Ms. Sheila Dixit, of corruption and failure to implement the promises made to the people of the city. He had also accused the Central Congress leadership of going back on its word of removing Ms. Dixit within three months.

Talking to newsmen after joining the party, Mr. Bidhuri said that this had paved way for formation of the Third Front in Delhi. Stating that he had a past association with Mr. Paswan when they both were together in the Janata Dal, he said the Lok Janshakti party president was a leader of the youth who was working tirelessly for the upliftment of all the weaker sections of the society irrespective of their caste and creed.

He said the Congress party was losing popularity in the Capital as its leaders and the Government had not even fulfilled even one promise made in the manifesto. The Government had not only faltered on the closure of industries front but had also let down lakhs of people on the issue of regularisation of unauthorised colonies. A massive bungling had taken place in the orders for CNG buses and CBI probe should be held into the entire purchase aspect of these buses.

Stating that the Lok Janshakti would soon emerge as the leading political party in the country championing the cause of the common man under the leadership of Mr. Paswan, Mr. Bidhuri said thousands of Congress(I) workers, disillusioned with the party, would formally join the Lok Janshakti at a massive rally to be held in the Capital on December 17.
