Lashkar ad. seeks support for Kashmiri fighters

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD, DEC. 12. The standard phrase employed by Pakistan in any reference to militant organisations operating in Kashmir is that it has no influence over them but the amazing fact is they are allowed to operate freely from the country.

The Lashkar-e-Taiba, one of the outfits which has rejected the Indian initiative on Kashmir, has put out an advertisement in a leading English daily in Pakistan seeking funds and support for those fighters engaged in operations in Kashmir, Chechnya and Palestine.

The December 9 advertisement in The News begins with a quotation that ``one who equipped a Mujahid (holy fighter) in the way of Allah is like the one who participated in Jehad'' (holy war).

``Can your thoughts reach your brother before the enemy's bullet? If only your pen can write as fast. Mujahideen Lashkar-e-Taiba, fighting for the glory of Allah, face challenges from forces that are greater than they are''.
