FIIs net sellers in equities
MUMBAI, DEC. 10. Foreign institutional investors were net sellers
in equities at Rs. 147.1 crores ($ 31.4 million) for the trading
week ended December 8, which saw the BSE sensitive index gaining
124.12 points.
The FII behaviour in the market was at variance with the upward
movement seen in the BSE index on all the five trading days in
the week ended Decemeber 8.
According to the data available with the Securities and Exchange
Board of India (SEBI), FIIs were net buyers in debt to the extent
of Rs. 30.1 crores ($ 6.3 million) for the week.
FIIs were net sellers in equities on December 4 (Rs. 83.7 crores
- $ 17.9 million), December 5 (Rs. 63.8 crores - $ 13.6 million)
and December 7 (Rs. 18.8 crores - $ 4 million) while they were
net buyers on the remaining two days.
The foreign funds were net buyers in the debt segment on three
days while no transaction took place on December 8.
