Bishop to hold talks with Keshubhai
SURAT, DEC. 10. Bishop, Mr. Ezhra Sargunam, chairman of the Tamil
Nadu Minority Commission, would hold talks with the Gujarat Chief
Minister, Mr. Keshubhai Patel, and the State Home Minister, Mr.
Haren Pandya, on the controversial land issue at Chhindia in
which a Christian chapel was allegedly attacked by some people on
November 26.
Before his departure, Mr. Ezhra, also the head of the Evangelical
Churches of India, said the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr. M.
Karunanidhi, had sent him a faxed message, stating that the State
Government authorities concerned were interested in settling the
issue in the presence of the authorised Christian body which was
pressing for free entry to the chapel for prayer before the
Christmas festival.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ikm Khan, Congress Rajya Sabha member, who was
assigned by the AICC chief, Ms. Sonia Gandhi, for a fact-finding
mission on the dispute arrived here this evening on way to
Chhindia.
