Labour Dept. call to industries

CHENNAI, DEC. 9. The Labour Department has invited applications
from managements and trade unions for participating in the ``Good
Industrial Relations Award'' for 1998 and 1999. The applications
are available in the offices of the Labour Commissioner, Chennai
and Deputy Labour Commissioners.
A three-member committee, headed by a retired High Court Judge,
will select the awardees. Those desirous of participating have
been requested to send the filled-in applications along with a
prescribed fee of Rs. 10 in case of trade unions and Rs. 25 for
managements to the Labour Commissioner, Chennai, on or before
December 31 .
Individual awards will be given for managements and trade unions.
Separate applications should be sent for the years 1998, and
1999, according to an official press release.
