Hyderabad has it easy

CHENNAI, DEC. 5. A late flourish notwiwthstanding, Andhra failed to stop Hyderabad from chalking out a seven-wicket win, with an over to spare, in the truncated match of the Subbiah Pillai Trophy one-day tournament at the India Cements-Guru Nanak ground on Tuesday.

An unbroken 54-run stand for the sixth wicket between K.S. Shahabuddin 35 (23b, 2x4, 2x6) and R.V.C.H. Prasad (19) helped Andhra raise a healthy total of 150 in the allotted 25 overs. Earlier, Amit Pathak 68 (8x4) had provided the impetus. For Hyderabad, the target did not turn imposing with Daniel Manohar (58, 4x4, 1x6) giving the right start and V.V.S. Laxman (43, 1x4, 1x6) the needed thrust.
