ABVP to focus on degeneration in education

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC. 5. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has planned a series of campaigns and agitations to highlight the rot that has set into the educational sector in particular and into public life at large in Kerala.

This was disclosed at a press conference held here today by the State president of the ABVP, Mr. V. Unnikrishnan and the State secretary, Ms. T. P. Sindhumol.

The ABVP will organise college unit conferences from December 7 to 11 in all the colleges in the State to enlighten the students about the grave threats being faced by the education sector in the State. On December 20, dharnas will be organised in all district centres. Padayatras, conventions and rallies will be organised at the taluk level throughout the State in January.

On January 11 and 12, seminars and discussions will be organised to focus attention on instances of harassment of women in Kerala. Hundreds of girl students will participate in special conventions scheduled at Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.

The ABVP welcomes and supports the findings and recommendations of the Perumal Committee set up by the MG University and demands implementation of the same, he said and added that the ABVP in no way supports the ongoing spate of political murders in Kannur.
