Osama associate held in Pak.

ISLAMABAD, DEC. 5. Pakistan immigration authorities have arrested a Tunisian-born French citizen on charges of having links with Osama bin Laden, a newspaper reported today.

The officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Ena Ferqis, who was trying to board a London-bound PIA flight under fake documents and French residential card, the Khabrain reported.

It is believed that Ferqis has visited Afghanistan. He was granted visa for visiting Pakistan on 29th September last yeas subject to the condition that he can visit Pakistan anytime for 30 days. After getting visa he came to Pakistan on 26th November 1999. He was supposed to leave Pakistan on 26th December 1999.

The authorities did not know where he has disappeared and his visa expired on March 28 last. After seven months of the expiry of visa he reached Islamabad airport yesterday to embark the flight.

Immigration officials had off loaded another Tunisian origin suspect three days ago on the tip that he was wanted to French Government in connection with various terrorist activities. He had gone to Afghanistan after coming to Pakistan. He was arrested on his way back from Afghanistan. Officials in the passport cell are investigating as under what motive both they visited Afghanistan.
