Ex-Minister surrenders

ROHTAK, DEC. 4. Former Haryana Revenue Minister and senior Congress leader Mr. Anand Singh Dangi today surrendered before the District and Sessions Court here in connection with the alleged multi-crore-rupee land deal scandal case.

The Designated Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Shiva Sharma remanded Mr. Dangi to judicial custody till Dec. 18. The judge also ordered a medico-legal examination of Mr Dangi by the Chief Medical Officer, before he was taken to the local district jail.

The judge also directed the district police chief to deploy guards for the security of Mr. Dangi in the jail in compliance with the apex court directions.

The surrender followed the Supreme Court's direction to Mr. Dangi last week.

The court issued a notice to the State of Haryana for Dec. 8 following a bail application moved by Mr. Dangi's counsel.
