Child rescued from mother
By Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, DEC. 4. A three-year-old child, allegedly attacked and
abused by his mother, was brought to Udavum Karangal on Monday. A
complaint has been lodged with Aminjikarai police.
According to Mr. S. Vidyakar, founder of the organisation, the
victim's mother Ms.Maheswari residing in Naduvankarai in Anna
Nagar was working as a maid servant.
She slashed the throat of her child Vinodh with a blade today.
The neighbours who saw the condition of the child contacted Mr.
Vidyakar and following his advice, the child was brought to the
organisation.
The injured child was admitted to a private hospital in Anna
Nagar, where he was treated for the gash and five sutures were
made to arrest the bleeding, he said.
This was not the first time that the child was injured by its
mother. During last year, the woman had thrown the same child
into the Cooum river. The neighbours rescued the child and he was
treated in a private hospital in Shanthi Colony.
