Counselling for medical seats from Dec. 8

HYDERABAD, DEC. 4. Counselling for admission into MBBS and BDS
courses for the year 2000-2001 will be held from December 8 to 11
at Gandhi Medical College in Hyderabad. The counselling is to be
held in three phases, the NTR University of Health Sciences Vice-
Chancellor, Dr. G. Shyam Sundar, said here on Monday.
Addressing a press conference, Dr. Shyam Sundar said admissions
would be made for 10 government medical colleges, six private
medical colleges, two government dental colleges and one private
dental college. There are a total of 2150 medicine seats and 80
seats in the dental colleges. In respect of CVS Krishnateja
Dental College at Tirupati and Narayana Medical Colleges, seats
would not be allotted since the Government of India was yet to
give the clearance.
The merit list and the counselling details will also be available
on the Net from December 7 on URL
http://eamcet.ap.nic.in/medical.html.
The open competition students would be allotted seats during the
first phase slated to be held on December 8 and 9. Meritorious
reserved category candidates (BCs, SCs and STs) will be
considered under open competition and selected to the college
based on their merit.
During the second phase, The reserved category students selected
under the open competition category would be reallotted to the
college of their preference depending upon the availability of
seats in their respective category and their eligibility.
Dr. Shyam Sundar said if a reserved category candidate selected
in the open competition seat failed to attend the second phase,
the candidate would be reallotted to a college by the selection
committee without any further reference to the candidate.
Counselling would be taken exclusively for the reserved category
candidates during the third phase.
The following is the schedule: Phase I - December 8, 9 a.m: Open
Competition seats, all candidates from 0001 to 0250 ranks.
December 8, 2 p.m: Open Competition seats, all candidates from
0251 to 0500, December 9, 9 a.m: Open Competition seats, all
candidates from 0501 to 2500.
Phase - II December 9, 2 p.m: Reallotment of college to the
reserved category candidates selected under Open competition
seats.
Phase - III December 10, 9 a.m: BC-A, BC-B, BC-C and BC-D seats -
BC candidates upto 4000, SC-A, SC-B, SC-C and SC-D seats - SC
candidates upto 6000 and ST seats - ST Candidates upto 8000.
December 11, 9 a.m: BC-A, BC-C, SC-A, SC-B, SC-C, SC-D and ST
seats. BC-A candidates of AU, SVU and NL from 4001 to 5000, BC-A
candidates of OU from 4001 to 6000, BC-C candidates from 4001 to
7000, SC-A and SC-D : all candidates, SC-B candidates from 6001
to 10000, SC-C candidates from 6001 to 8000, ST candidates of OU,
SVU and NL from 8001 to 15000 and ST candidates of AU from 8001
to 20000.
December 11, 2 p.m.: Army, NCC, Physically Handicapped, Sports &
Games and Anglo Indian seats: All candidates falling in these
categories.
Selected candidates are expected to submit all original
certificates and pay the fee prescribed in the regulations by
crossed demand draft in favour of Registrar, NTR University of
Health Sciences payable at Vijayawada at the time of counselling.
