27 policemen killed in bus accident
JAMMU, DEC. 4. At least 27 policemen were killed when the bus
they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into the
Chenab river at Chashma near Ramban, about 150 km from here, this
evening, a police spokesman said.
The bus was carrying 40 policemen, he said adding 27 bodies had
been recovered.
The search for the remaining bodies or survivors was on, he said.
The cause of the accident was being ascertained, he said, adding
the bus was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu.
Army troops were carrying out rescue operations, according to the
spokesman.
