Mohd Yousuf triumphs

AGRA, DEC. 1. In an exciting all-Pakistan final, former world champion Mohd Yousuf defeated Saleh Mohd 8-5 frames (35-62, 80- 16, 25-67, 75-23, 12- 78, 65-39, 12-76, 52-40, 138-0, 56-10, 17- 55, 66-13 and 64-27) to five to lift the third S. Chand-Jaypee international snooker tournament here on Thursday.

In the process he also posted the tournament's highest break of 138, in the ninth frame. This was the third highest break in India after Geet Sethi's and Deepak Multani's breaks of 147 and 142 recorded in the nationals.

During the first break, Mohd Saleh led 3-2 but the tide turned thereafter. Saleh started to miss some simple pots even as Yousuf came into his own.

As in the earlier matches luck continued to smile on Yousuf. When on 60 in the ninth frame, he fluked the black which touched both the cushions and rolled into the top pocket.
