Cong. dissident leader's charge

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, DEC. 1. The factional feud in the State Congress(I) intensified as the dissident leader, Mr. K.V. Thangabalu, today alleged that his ``signature was deliberately not obtained'' in the resolution, authorising the party president, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, to appoint the next TNCC(I) president.

While the TNCC(I) circulated the copies of the resolution to most of the PCC(I) members and collected their signatures, the former TNCC(I) president, Mr. Thangabalu, charged that he was deliberately left out of the exercise. ``While the resolution was moved only at my instance, the TNCC(I) chief has chosen not to take my signature,'' he added.

Not to be left out of the loyalty show, Mr. Thangabalu has faxed a letter to Mrs. Sonia Gandhi reposing faith in her leadership and urging her to appoint the next TNCC(I) president.

Meanwhile, the TNCC (I) president, Mr. E.V.K.S. Elangovan, handed over the copy of the crucial resolution to the Congress(I) high command today in Delhi. The Elangovan camp maintained that Mr. Thangabalu was out of the City and hence could not be sent a copy of the resolution.

However, the former TNCC(I) president and another dissident leader, Mr. Tindivanam K. Ramamurthy, had signed the resolution copy, they pointed out.
