2 BSF men die in blast
JAMMU, OCT. 21. Two Border Security Force jawans were killed and
four injured in a blast triggered by explosives strapped on to a
mule at a BSF post in Udhampur district this morning.
According to BSF sources, around 7.30 a.m. a mule, suspected to
be strapped with bags containing explosives, entered the premises
of the BSF post at Lapri near Arnas Tehsil of Udhampur district.
The jawans deployed in the post did not take the mule seriously
as such movement was normal in the area. At times, even the BSF
used mules for transportation.
Some time after that, a powerful blast took place, killing two
BSF jawans, Laxaman Singh Paswan and M.K. Nilan on the spot and
injuring four others - Satvir Singh, Shiv Lal, cook Jagan Nath
and barber S. Thakur. Of the four, two were seriously injured.
They were admitted to the Army hospital in Udhampur, the sources
said. The explosive device was suspected to be remote-
controlled. This is the first incident of its kind during the
decade-long militancy in the State.
