History syllabus issue
By Our Staff Reporter
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 21. The Democratic Government College
Teachers' Association (DGCTA) has reiterated that the issue
relating to the revision of syllabus for the post-graduate course
in History, was purely academic and not prompted by extraneous
considerations.
Reacting to the statement made by Dr.K.K.Kusuman, the Chairman of
the Board of Studies for M.A. History, Dr.V.Madhusudanan, General
secretary of the DGCTA, has said that the former could not
justify the faux pas that has occurred in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Sunni Students' Federation (SSF), has expressed
its protest over the elimination of the Islamic Period from the
syllabi of the M.A. History course of the Kerala University and
the degree course of the Calicut University.
There was no justification in excluding this period while
incorporating in the syllabus such topics as Cuban and Vitenamese
Communist revolutions that had no relevance in the Indian
context, the State secretariat of the SSF which met here today
said.
