Man found murdered
By Our Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI, OCT.19. Just hours after he had left home with friends
to collect money for a ``jagran'' he was arranging, a 22-year-old
man was found brutally murdered outside his Patel Nagar house
were last night. Personal enmity is suspected to be the motive
behind the murder.
Ajay Kumar Hingorani was found with strangulation marks on his
neck and 33 multiple stab injuries, most of them inflicted after
he had been strangulated. Some valuables he was carrying were
found missing. A resident of 216, DDA flats in New Ranjit Nagar,
Ajay used to work at his father Bihari Lal's electrical
appliances shop in the Paschim Vihar area.
He had left home earlier in the evening at around 4-45 p.m and
returned at 8-30 p.m. According to the statement given by Ajay's
family to the police, six friends of Ajay had come to visit him
after his return. Since Ajay and his friends were planning to
hold a ``jagran'' on November 19, he left with the group for
collection of funds.
He is reported to have left his friend's place on his scooter at
around 9-45 p.m. His body was found past midnight at the
staircase leading to his house. Police suspect that Ajay was
killed and then his body dumped outside the house. While Ajay's
scooter was found parked at some distance from the house, his
wallet, cellphone and helmet were missing.
Senior police officials ruled out robbery as a possible motive.
Ajay's friends were being questioned for providing clues to the
murder. A case of murder has been registered at the Patel Nagar
police station.

Irate shopkeepers of the Rajouri Garden Main Market today
attacked a team of Custom officials, who had gone to check if
there was any illegal sale of imported items in the market. At
least one officer of the Custom department was injured.
Following a complaint filed by the Customs department, the
Rajouri Garden police is now planning to register a case of
obstructions to duty against the shopkeepers under section 186,
332 and 353 of the IPC.
The incident occurred at around 3 this afternoon. According to
the police, the shopkeepers had protested against the inspection
on the plea that it was Diwali and thus business time. The
shopkeepers turned violent when the officials insisted on
checking one shop to see if more items had been stored inside,
police said. No arrests have been made so far in the case.
``When the officials refused to budge to the shopkeepers demands,
the latter turned violent, attacking and injuring some officials
in the process,'' a senior police official said.
