Rangarajan takes charge

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 19. The Andhra Pradesh Governor, Mr. C.
Rangarajan, on Thursday assumed additional charge as Governor of
Kerala.
This is in view of the Governor, Mr. S.S. Kang, going on leave
for 21 days.
Mr. Rangarajan, who arrived here this morning, was received at
the airport by the Chief Minister, Mr. E.K. Nayanar, the Chief
Secretary, Mr. M. Mohan Kumar, the District Panchayat president,
Mr. Sasikala Sankar, the Mayor, Prof. J. Chandra, and the
Collector, Mr. S. Sreenivasan, and other officials.
Later, the acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, Ms.
K.K. Usha, administered him the oath of office at a solemn
function at the Raj Bhavan.
The function began with the Chief Secretary reading out the
warrant of appointment issued by the President. When the oath was
complete, the police band played the National Anthem and the
National Flag was unfurled at the Raj Bhavan.
The Chief Minister then introduced the Speaker, Mr. M.
Vijayakumar, the Finance Minister, Mr. T. Sivadasa Menon, the
Health Minister, Mr. V.C. Kabeer, and others to the Governor. The
Speaker and the Ministers presented bouquets to Mr. Rangarajan.
Mr. Rangarajan left for Hyderabad later in the afternoon.
