Free sale sugar
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, OCT.19.The Centre permitted sugar mills to sell 25 per
cent of their free sale quota released for November from today.
It had released 10.5 lakh tonnes of sugar for October and 9.5
lakh tonnes each for November and December for free sale.
Though the price of free sale sugar declined in all major
markets, in the last few days an upturn in prices was noticed due
to an increased festival season demand. Although the price rise
is marginal, the Government decided to advance the free sale
quota release for November to prevent price increase during the
festival season.
