Embassy reopens
By Our Special Correspondent
ISLAMABAD, OCT. 16. The United States embassy in Islamabad
reopened today. It was closed on Friday in the wake of the
suspected terrorist attack on the USS Cole, a naval destroyer,
and the continuing clashes between Israelis and
Palestinians. There was a speculation in the Pakistani media of a
possible U.S. attack on the hideouts of the Saudi dissident,
Osama Bin Laden. It is suspected his group could be behind the
attack in Yemen, and the closure of the embassy was seen as a
possible preparation for U.S. strikes.
