Rajiv murder case: DK denial
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, OCT. 14. The Dravidar Kazhagam general secretary, Mr. K.
Veeramani, has denied that any of those convicted in the Rajiv
Gandhi assassination case belonged to his organisation.
Talking to reporters here recently, he accused the Janata Party
president, Dr. Subramanian Swamy, of engaging in a disinformation
campaign on this issue.
He also clarified that he was not associated with any committee
formed to raise funds to pay the lawyers fees for the accused.
Mr. Veeramani said he was considering taking legal action against
Dr. Swamy.
The DK leader said a secular movement could unite parties which
were otherwise divided in Tamil Nadu. Such a movement was the
need of the hour to defeat communal forces.
The DK, which was a non-electoral outfit, was trying to bring
together all such outfits.
In this endeavour, it did not require that all the parties should
subscribe to all the ideals of Periyar, he said.
