Wright to meet BCCI officials
By Our Special Correspondent
MUMBAI, OCT. 5. John Wright, the frontrunner candidate for the
Indian cricket team's coach, will meet the Board of Control for
Cricket in India (BCCI) officials here on October 23.
The former New Zealand opener is scheduled to arrive here on
October 22. Wright seems to be the most favoured for the
prestigious job now, his credentials endorsed by Australia's
former coach Bobby Simpson, Raman Subba Row (Surrey) and Sir
Colin Cowdrey (Kent).
Wright and Australia's Geoff Marsh are the two with whom the BCCI
has decided to talk to. The applications of the other two,
Australia's Dean Jones and West Indian Andy Roberts, will at the
most be useful reference papers in the BCCI's files.
Marsh, too, will be in India in the last week of October. On
Wednesday he confirmed to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation
(ABC) Radio that he will be visiting India soon to talk to the
BCCI officials.
According to the October issue of `Inside Edge, Australia, Marsh
has reportedly asked US $ 7,00,000 for two years.
