CBI files FIR against SGPC chief

CHANDIGARH, OCT. 4. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today filed a First Information Report (FIR) in the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) Chief, Bibi Jagir Kaur, in a case relating to the death of her daughter Harpreet Kaur in April last.

Kamaljit Singh, who claims to be the husband of Harpreet Kaur, had petitioned before the High Court, seeking its directions to the CBI to register a proper FIR in the case.

Counsel for the CBI informed the court that in pursuance of the inquiry into the case an FIR had been registered by the CBI. The counsel also produced the FIR in a sealed cover before the court. However, the sealed cover was not opened by the court as the petitioner withdrew his application
