Bihar SP killed in encounter

PATNA, OCT. 4. Mr. A. K. Singh, an young IPS officer of the 1995 batch, and SP of Lohardagga district, was killed in an encounter with members of the suspected Moist Communist Centre (MMC) in Bisar village this afternoon.

The DGP, Mr. K. A. Jacob, said that following a mine blast an encounter ensued in which a bullet hit the SP in the head, resulting in his death on the spot.

He maintained that details about the SP's operations were awaited.

Mr. Jacob said the matter would be enquired into by the police and a case lodged in this connection. The deceased's wife, Mrs. Anupam Saxena, is also an IPS officer presently posted as city SP of Ranchi.
