Powdery mildew disease of rose
POWDERY MILDEW is one of the most important diseases on rose. The
symptoms of disease appear as blisters that soon become covered
with a white, powdery fungal growth. In older leaves large white
patches of fungal growth appear. Leaves may appear discoloured
and may eventually become necratic. White patches of fungus
growth also appear on young leaves later. Sometimes buds may be
attacked by covering of white mildew before they open. The
infection spreading to the flower parts which become discoloured,
dwarfed and finally die. To overcome this disease following
measures are suggested.
- Remove the dried twigs and infected leaves
- Spraying of Carbendazim 250 g/ha or wettable sulphur 2.5 kg/ha
for effective control
