New trustees take over Pachaiyappa's Trust Board

CHENNAI, OCT. 4. With the results in elections to the Pachaiyappa's Trust Board declared, a new set of Trustees have taken over the administration of the 160-year-old Trust.

Following the orders passed by the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, the Administrator General and Official Trustee (AG and OT) of Tamil Nadu, handed over the Trust management along with its properties and 24 educational institutions to the Board of Trustees.

The following are the new Trustees: Messrs R. Kennedy, R. Prabhakaran, R. Thandavan, V. Sukumaran Babu, `Misa' R. Ganesan, P.M. Anbumani, P.V. Kalyanasundaram and M.K.Mohan.

The Trust's management came under the High Court represented by the AG and OT following a Supreme Court order in 1996, pending conduct of elections to the Board. After obtaining the High Court's permission, elections were held on August 30.

The new Board will operate all bank accounts fixed deposits/shares etc of the Trust including the accounts of the educational instutitutions.
