DP denies Govt. patronage

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, OCT. 4. The Dalit Panthers organiser, Mr. R. Thirumavalavan, today denied that the DMK Government was patronising his outfit to counter the PMK.

Talking to reporters, he said several of his partymen were being needlessly kept under preventive detention by the State Government.

The PMK founder, Dr. S. Ramadoss, was blaming the DMK Government on various counts only to please the AIADMK general secretary, Ms. Jayalalitha. Dr. Ramadoss, he said, was trying to win the ``sympathy'' of Ms. Jayalalitha as he was being pushed out of the DMK front.

Dr. Ramadoss was upset because Ms. Jayalalitha boycotted the PMK committee which complained about violence by DP cadres. Now, he was trying to win her favour.

As other casteist parties such as the Makkal Tamil Desiya Katchi and the New Justice Party were training their guns on the PMK, Dr. Ramadoss was facing political isolation, he said.
