Paswan for Central intervention in Bihar

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, OCT. 4. The Dalit Sena headed by the Communications Minister, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, has expressed concern over the ``deteriorating'' law and order situation in Bihar and appealed to the President to ``intervene immediately'' to improve it.

The Dalit Sena held an emergency meeting here on Tuesday and adopted a resolution on the law and order situation in the State especially the ``massacre of people'' since the Rabri Devi Government came to power in June this year.

Listing some eight incidents in various parts of the State in which 97 people lost their lives, the Dalit Sena

said it was evident ``there is no form of Government worth its name in Bihar and there is absolutely no safety of life and property in the State,'' a release of the organisation said today.

``Keeping in view the deteriorating law and order situation and the day-to-day murders and massacres in Bihar,'' the Sena unanimously resolved to appeal for immediate intervention of the President so that the situation could be improved.

The emergency meeting of the Sena comes close on the heels of a move of leaders of rest of Bihar, including the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the Samata Party and the Janata Dal (United) coming together on a platform for development of the State after the formation of separate Jharkhand State.
