Tucows eyes Indian market

By Our Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI, SEPT. 28. The Canada-based Tucows Inc. (tucows.com), a renowned Internet player since 1993 whose web site records around 10 million visitors per month for free software downloads from the Internet, is currently discussing with major Internet portals and ISPs in India to establish a strong presence in the Indian market via a joint venture or a strategic partnership.

Indian Internet users will have the luxury of high speed free downloads of software from its library of over 40,000 titles delivered from a local server in India that includes popular browsers, virus prevention software, music titles and children's software. Apart from software downloads, Tucows is also planning on launching other products in India such as web certification, payment gateways, domain registration and web hosting.
