We will again try to kill Chhota Rajan, says suspect
BANGKOK, SEPT. 28. Mohammad Salim, one of those who made an
abortive bid on the life of Mumbai underworld don Chhota Rajan
and was arrested, today said they would again try to kill him.
``We will again attempt to kill Chhota Rajan. We have come from
Pakistan....This is an enmity between two gangs,'' Salim told
presspersons outside a court here where he, along with three
other suspects, was produced. Salim, along with two other
Pakistanis and a Thai, was arrested in connection with the
shootout here on September 15 in which the don was injured. An
Indian jeweller, Rohit Verma alias Michael D'Souza, at whose
apartment the shooting took place, was killed and his wife
Sangeeta Sharma was injured.
Rajan wants to return to India
Chhota Rajan today expressed his desire to return to India and
surrender there. ``Mujhe India Jaana Hai. Yeh Sab Khatam hone Ke
Baad main India Ja Ke surrender Karoonga (I have to go to India.
After all this finishes here, I will go to India and
surrender),'' a pale-looking and injured Rajan told PTI while
emerging from the court where he was formally charged for
violation of Thai immigration laws and subsequently granted bail.
Mumbai police has reportedly sought extradition of Rajan who has
entered Thailand as Vijay Daman as he is wanted in several cases
there.
A top Thai police official, Gen. Chakthib, however, said the
authorities were still awaiting a formal request from India on
Rajan's extradition.
Witness terrified
Kamala, the Burmese maid employed at the residence of Rohit Verma
here, is terrified about her future and wants to return to
Myanmar.
Sitting outside the courtroom where her mistress was giving her
testimony on the shooting incident, Kamala said: I was in the
kitchen when the doorbell rang and a second later there was
firing. I was terrified to go out and see what was happening.''
One of the gunmen had peered into the kitchen ``but he did not
harm me,''she added.
She said Chhota Rajan alias Vijay Daman had been staying at the
Verma residence for the past few months.
''When I Came out of the kitchen much later, Bhaiya (Verma) on
the floor and Madame (Sangeeta) was sitting next to him,'' Kamala
said.
