Candidate accused of violating poll code

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 23. The UDF candidate contesting the elections to the City Corporation Council from the Vazhuthacaud ward, Mr. Vikraman Unniraja, has accused his LDF rival and the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Vazhuthacaud Narendran, of violating the poll code.

In a pressnote issued here today, Mr. Vikraman said that Mr. Narendran had exceeded the ceiling on election expenditure by splurging on cut outs and banners. He said Mr. Narendran was using his official vehicle to canvass votes.

Mr. Vikraman alleged that Corporation vehicles were pressed into service for election work and that the LDF was holding out promises at `ayalkkoottam' meetings. He alleged that the Election Commission had not intervened despite his complaint.
