TDP draws up plan to overhaul district units

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 23. The ruling TDP has chalked out a plan to overhaul its district units by weeding out deadwood and infusing new blood. The reconstitution of the district units was discussed by the TDP president and Chief Minister, Mr.N. Chandrababu Naidu, at a meeting with party seniors at NTR Bhavan on Saturday.

Mr. Naidu finalised a list of district coordinators who would hold meetings in their respective districts and submit reports to him on the state of affairs of the party. A detailed schedule for these meetings was finalised and announced later by the party.

The district coordinators would convene meetings in their allotted districts a day before the District Review and Development Committee (DRDC) is scheduled to meet. This arrangement has been finalised to enable coordinators to interact with the Ministers in charge of the districts, MLAs and other senior leaders. The Ministers representing the districts would invariably present, party sources said.

The Chief Minister, addressing the district coordinators, emphasised the need for a detailed analysis of the ``strengths and weaknesses'' of the party in their respective areas. He desired that the district reports contain detailed account of the performance of party functionaries or their shortcomings so that the ``hardworking and committed cadre'' could be promoted and ineffective elements eased out. The party general secretary, Mr.S.M.Lal Jan Basha, the party spokesperson, Mr.R. Chandrasekhar Reddy, were also present.

The DRDCs are scheduled to meet on specified dates between September 24 and October 3. Accordingly, the programme for the district coordinators was chalked out.

The list of the coordinators is as follows : Kambhampati Rammohan Rao, Rajya Sabha member: Srikakulam; V. Geetha, party vice- president and Rajya Sabha member: Vizianagaram ; P. Manik Reddy, general secretary: Visakhapatnam; M. Kasi Reddy : East Godavari; K. Kala Venkat Rao, Rajya Sabha member: West Godavari; Immani Rajeswari: Krishna; S.A. Rehman: Guntur; A. Prabhakar Rao, State secretary: Prakasam; Katta Narayanaiah: Nellore; Dr.A. Prabhakar Rao: Chittoor; M.A. Sharief: Anantapur; Areti Kotaiah: Kurnool; S.M. Radhakrishna, State secretary: Mahabubnagar; Tripurana Venkata Ratnam: Ranga Reddy; T.D. Janardhan Rao: Hyderabad; Mohd Ghouse Mohiuddin, minority cell president: Medak; A. Chandulal, politburo member: Nizamabad; Baddam Narsa Reddy, Telugu Rytu president: Karimnagar; C.D. Ravi Kumar: Warangal; Padala Aruna: Khammam; and Kolli Sarada: Nalgonda.

The coordinators for Cuddapah and Adilabad districts would be finalised later.

The meetings for Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore and Chittoor are slated for September 24 while the Khammam meeting will take place on September 25.

East Godavari, Mahabubnagar, Medak, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Nalgonda districts will have their respective sessions on September 26 while Kurnool and Warangal units would meet on September 27. The district bodies of Vizianagaram, West Godavari, Anantapur would meet on September 28 and those of Srikakulam and Krishna on September 29.
