JAMMU, SEPT. 23. Six people were killed and five others injured,
two of them seriously, in an explosion triggered by militants at
a shop in a village in Udhampur district of Jammu division today,
a BSF spokesman said.
The blast was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device. As the
BSF troops cordoned off the area to nab the militants, another
blast occurred nearby. No loss of life or damage was reported.
5 intruders killed
Five intruders were killed as Army scuttled a major attempt by
Pakistan to push a group of armed militants into the Kashmir
Valley in Kupwara district, defence sources said today.
They said troops noticed militants trying to sneak into the
Valley from across the border through Kamal Hump post in
Tangdhar-Karnah sector of Kupwara on Thursday.
Meanwhile, in a `most barbaric act', militants attempted to gorge
out the eyes of three villagers of Doda in Jammu and Kashmir, a
defence spokesman said today.
He said a group of foreign mercenaries, who entered Khida
