Arrangements for Brahmostavam reviewed

TIRUMALA, SEPT. 2. The T.T.D. Executive Officer, Mr.P.K
rishnaiah, reviewed the elaborate arrangements being made for the
annual `Brahmotsavam' of Lord Venkateswara, which is scheduled to
commence from the 30th of this month, at a high-level meeting
here.
Briefing mediapersons, the T.T.D. Public Relations Officer, Mr.
Subhash Gowd, said the meeting laid emphasis on maintaining
sanitation, prompt medial care, augmentating drinking water
facilities and regulating vehicular traffic in the sacred hill
town, during the nine-day festival period, during which the
influx of the pilgrims will be at its peak.
The APSRTC authorities have agreed to run 56 additional buses
from Tirupati to Tirumala, during the festival period, in
addition to its existing fleet of 88 buses apart from pressing
into service an another fleet of 100 inter-state special buses,
particularly from the adjoining states of Karnataka and Tamil
Nadu, besides organising an extra hundred bus services from
various districts in the State. Both ghat roads will be kept open
round the clock, the APSRTC, the State Transport Department and
the police will jointly deploy their men all along ghat roads to
regulate vehicular traffic and to maintain constant vigil.
The APSRTC officials were also asked to keep their various bus
station premises spic and span and also to set up information
centres the benefit of pilgrims. Round the clock patrolling by
the police and the T.T.D. security department also will be
ensured all along the footpath, for the safety of the pilgrims.
Health department officials were instructed to clear the debris
in the entire temple town so as to provide a hygienic and healthy
atmosphere and to clear all drains atop the hill town,
particularly drains in the four mada streets, encircling the holy
shrine. Nine first aid centres apart from one mobile clinic will
be set up at Tirumala. Free food packets will be provided at the
Vaikuntam queue complex, pilgrims' amenities complex and at all
Sudarsanam token counters. The health officer was also asked to
take all measures to prevent outbreak of epidemics like cholera
and diarrhoea.
The Tirupati Additional SP, Mr. Ravi Chandra, who also
participated in the meeting, promised to assist the TTD
management by providing the required number of men. In all, three
DSPs, 10 Circle Inspectors, 60 sub-inspectors, 120 head
constables and 600 constables will be deployed both at Tirumala
and Tirupati besides six platoons of the armed reserve police.
The TTD Joint Executive Officer, Mr.P. Balasubramanyam, the Chief
Vigilance and Security Officer, Mr. Vijaya Kumar, Chief
Conservator of Forests, Mr. Venkatrmaiah, and officials from
APSRTC and the Police department participated in the meeting.
