Krishna water may reach city tomorrow

CHENNAI, AUG. 29. The initial flow of Krishna water for Chennai
is likely to be received by August 31.
Earlier, the officials anticipated that water would reach Tamil
Nadu on September 1 or 2.
As the speed of the flow is picking up gradually, the officials
here expect that the arrival will be by the early hours of
Friday.
According to information reaching here, the flow touched the
121st-km-point of the Telugu Ganga Canal by 3 p.m. today.
The levels at the city reservoirs on Tuesday stood at 846 mcft in
Poondi (rainfall of 11 mm), 83 mcft in Sholavaram (rainfall 5 mm)
and 1185 mcft in Red Hills (rainfall 7 mm).
At Chembarambakkam, the live storage was put at 22 mcft.
