Point 5353 was never under India's control
NEW DELHI, AUG. 11. The Army today clarified that Point 5353 in
the Batalik sector in Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir was never under
India's control.
Reacting to media reports that Pakistani forces were still
controlling the peak, a spokesman here said ``in accordance with
the Shimla Agreement the LoC passes through Point 5353. This
point was never under our control either before or after
`Operation Vijay' in Kargil.
