Scribes assaulted
CALCUTTA, AUG. 10. Ten journalists including a woman television
reporter were today assaulted by a section of government
employees inside Writer's Building, the West Bengal Secretariat.
The scribes had gone there to cover an agitation by the employees
who had gheraoed the Director of Information, Mr. Tarapada Ghosh,
in his office chamber.
The injured journalists were treated at a medical booth in the
building. They later lodged an FIR with the police and staged a
dharna before the office of the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr.
Buddhadev Bhattacharjee, in protest. Mr. Bhattacharjee apologised
to journalists and ordered a probe.
