Cong. MLA accused of beating up engineer
By Our Special Correspondent
GANDHINAGAR, JULY 10. After the BJP, it is now the turn of the
Congress(I) member of the Gujarat Assembly to show their power to
the world. A police complaint has been lodged against a
Congress(I) MLA for allegedly beating up an engineer in the State
irrigation department.
Police, however, could not make any arrest so far. In addition to
caution since the complaint was against a political leader,
police were also not getting any eye-witness to testify against
the MLA because the people of the village was with him.
According to an information available here today, the incident
took place near Mordunga village in Godhra taluka of the
Panchamahals district on Friday. The Congress(I) MLA, Mr.
Rajendra Patel, reportedly beat up the engineer because he had
given an adverse report against his recommendation for a check
dam near the Mordunga village.
The local villagers and the sarpanch wanted the checkdam but the
engineer thought that it could flood the Godhra- Nada highway and
the proposal was shot down.
