Swimming bulletin dedicated to Nisha
NEW DELHI, JULY. 10. The 20th edition of the Swimming Statistical
Bulletin has been dedicated to Arjuna awardee Nisha Millet.
The bulletin is being brought out regularly by Mr. V.K. Pahuja, a
noted swimming coach and international water-polo referee.
The bulletin includes the updated records and results of all the
National and international level meets apart from the state
competitions. Every year, the bulletin is released around June
23, the death anniversary of Sanjay Gandhi.
Nisha is the first Indian woman to qualify for the Olympics by
meeting the qualifying standards in the 200m freestyle. In the
past, Khazan Singh Tokas, Sebastian Xavier and Sangita Rani Puri
had represented the country in the Olympics as wild cards.
Nisha also has the distinction of becoming the first in the
country to clock a sub-minute timing (0:59.42) in women's 100
metres freestyle, during the sixth Asian swimming and diving
championship in March this year.
