Minister's instruction to Metrowater officials
By Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, JULY 8.
The Local Administration Minister, Mr. Ko. Si. Mani has
instructed Metrowater authorities to receive consumer complaints
at the depot offices, in addition to the 10 divisional offices on
the second Saturdays.
This follows public representations to the Minister that many
found the divisional offices too far to commute and represent
their problems. The meetings will be held on second Saturdays, as
was the practice followed earlier at the divisional offices.
A Metrowater press release said all the 160 depots of Metrowater,
besides the divisional offices had started conducting the
meetings effective from July 8 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The Board would ensure that engineers attached to the depots and
divisions would be present at the consumer interaction session to
expedite redressal of their grievances.
The Minister said the facility would be useful to residents
welfare associations, consumer and voluntary organisations and
consumers as well. In the case of complaints received earlier to
the meeting, the authorities would record them and detail the
steps taken to rectify the complaint at the meetings.
