Bihar Minister denies detention of two persons
PATNA, JULY 8.The Bihar Minister of State for Cooperative, Mr.
Lalit Yadav, tonight denied reports that he had handcuffed and
forcibly detained two persons in his official residence in
connection with the alleged theft of valuables and other house-
hold materials of his relatives. Referring to a report telecast
by a private channel, the Minister told PTI that the materials
being ferried by a truck to Patna last month were looted at
Hajipur and subsequently a case was registered with the Hajipur
police station on June 16.
But, Mr. Yadav said, the reports that he had hand-cuffed or
forcibly detained the driver and helper of the truck were
`malicious'.
When contacted police sources said the driver and helper of the
truck, were arrested today from the Minister's residence by the
Hajipur police on the basis of FIR filed by Mr. Yadav's
relatives.
But they declined to comment upon their alleged confinement at
the Minister's official residence.
