Woman suicide bomber arrested
COLOMBO, JUNE 29. The Sri Lankan police claimed to have arrested
an LTTE woman suicide bomber who was designated to attack a
police station at Negambo, north of capital Colombo.
The 27-year-old Yogalingam Vijitha, hailing from eastern
Trincomalee, was arrested recently following a tip off by two
alleged LTTE suicide bombers, who were arrested by police few
weeks ago, media reports said today.
The police said Vijitha joined the LTTE in 1995 and underwent
training to carry out suicide missions. She was later sent to
Colombo in the company of two other bomber trainees. All three
have been arrested.
