U.S. Congressmen want Vajpayee to address session

WASHINGTON, JUNE 29. About 35 United States Congressmen have urged for an invitation to the Indian Prime Minister, Mr. A.B. Vajpayee, to address a joint session of the Congress.

In a letter to the House Speaker, Mr. Dennis Hastert, the legislators, led by the Congressman, Mr. James Mcdemott, recalled that the U.S. President, Mr. Bill Clinton, had addressed the Indian parliament during his visit this year and said India was becoming ``an important focus of American foreign policy.''
