New Delhi, June 29: The Election Commission has decided to
derecognise seven regional parties in some States based on their
poll performance.
The political parties to be derecognised are: Haryana Vikas
Party, NTR-TDP (Lakshmi Parvathi), Rashtriya Janata Dal in
Manipur, Shiv Sena in Dadar, Nagar and Haveli, United Minority
Party in Assam, Samajwadi Janata Party in Chandigarh and Samata
Party in Haryana, Commission sources said.
According to symbols order, a political party should have secured
six per cent of the total valid votes polled in a State, or one
seat in every 30 seats in the State Assembly or one seat in every
25 Lok Sabha seats to retain recognition.
Meanwhile, the CPI(M) which has been served notice on its
