Student leader dies in police custody

AJMER, JUNE 20.The death of a student leader in police custody sparked off a massive protest here today, forcing the authorities to suspend seven policemen, including a circle inspector, allegedly responsible for the incident.

President of the Government College Students' Union, Dharmendra Meghvanshi (25), was picked up by the police on Monday night in a drunken state.

His condition deteriorated while being in police custody and he was taken to the Nehru hospital, where he was declared dead, official sources said.
