Students take out awareness rally
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, JUNE 17. As a part of their "Education awakening
campaign" the Students' Islamic Organisation of India (SIOI) took
out a rally from Mecca Masjid to Dar-u-shifa ground on Saturday.
Despite rain many students participated in the rally. Holding
placards inscribed with messages asserting the importance of
education they passed through the narrow lanes and bylanes before
reaching the Dar-u-shifa ground. They raised slogans favouring
compulsory education for all. Some interesting tableaux depicting
the importance of education added colour to the rally.
The rally also marked the 15-day state-wide drive of the SIOI to
identify school dropouts and send them back to the school.
According to a member of the SIOI, about 10,000 children were
identified to get readmitted to the schools. Later, the SIOI
leaders addressed the rally. Similar rallies were taken out in
other districts on Friday.
